Schiphol routes: legal maximum meter fare and fixed fare

Meter fares use the official 2026 maximum tariffs at the typical driving time outside rush hour; in traffic the meter keeps running, a fixed fare does not. Taxis from the street or a rank may charge less than the maximum, and many offer their own fixed prices. Feminiq Rides fares are per car, including 9% VAT.

How a taxi fare is calculated in the Netherlands

A Dutch taxi meter charges a start fee plus a price per kilometre and per minute, so traffic jams make a ride more expensive. For taxis you hail on the street or take from a rank, the government sets the maximum each year. In 2026 that is €4.31 to start, €3.17 per kilometre and €0.52 per minute for a taxi with up to 4 passengers, and €8.77, €4 and €0.59 for a taxi van with 5 to 8 passengers. Booked rides, like Feminiq Rides, agree the price before the ride.

Questions and answers

How much does a taxi cost per kilometre in the Netherlands?

In 2026 a taxi from the street or a rank may charge at most €3.17 per kilometre, plus €0.52 per minute and a €4.31 start fee (taxi van with 5 to 8 passengers: €4, €0.59 and €8.77). Booked taxis agree their own price in advance.

Is a fixed price cheaper than the meter?

It depends on the distance. On short trips a metered taxi can be cheaper; on longer trips, such as from Rotterdam or Utrecht to Schiphol, a fixed fare is usually well below the meter. The table on this page compares every Feminiq Rides route with the legal maximum.

Does the meter keep running in traffic?

Yes. The per-minute rate applies to the whole ride, so a traffic jam makes a metered taxi more expensive. A fixed fare stays the same.

How accurate is this calculator?

It estimates the road distance from the straight-line distance and assumes an average speed of 35 km/h, so the real route can differ. For a ride with Feminiq Rides you see the exact price before you book.
